Question

Hey all, I want to put some video footage onto my PC so I can disk it as VCD,MPEG or the like.

I have a Sony digital cam corder and I'm presuming I need some sort of TV card and editing software??

Any recomendations on either or?

I use a hauppauge tv/video card, simply link the CC & card up with a S-Video cable.

Card comes with video capture software.

It was about 100 notes 4 years ago, they are probably a lot beter now!

Anyone ever used ulead? sounds easier to use than abode.

Is that the best card to get?

Does the cc have Firewire? Think Sony calls theirs iLink?

If it's a recentish one, check for DV out aka Firewire, if it has it get yourself a firewire card (assuming your PC doesn't already have it) and a firewire lead to connect them together (probably 6 to 4 pin). You should then be able to capture in digital perfection

If you don't have firewire you're probably looking at any number of cards that'll capture S-VHS, the hauppage wintv range most likely.

Oh and for video editing, Sonic Foundry Vegas Video 4 (+DVD if you're got a burner..), much easier to use than premier and can directly capture from DV CC, done it myself.

Its a sony dcr trv120e and has a I link dv interface. That good then?

Where do I get an firewire card aned link from? My Pc doesnt have one.

Sorry for all the questions but i'm a complete beginner when it comes to this.
