Hi All,
My Quadro 2 Pro is getting a bit long in the tooth and is now due for a replacement.
My requirements are:
1. Fast (will only be pushed hard for occasional gaming)
2. Quiet (no jet engine fans here)
3. AGP x 4 at least
4. Twin monitor support. Must be able to support either 2 x DVI, 1 DVI and 1 DSUB and 2 x DSUB, i.e. two monitors some or all of which will be DVIs.
5. Good drivers.
6. I'm not interested in overclocking it.
7. OpenGL performance is as important as DirectX.
Any ideas ? I'm guessing ATI based but it is all confusing
Cheers

Parhelia probably offers the most options but isn't the best 3D card.

My 9700 will run an second monitor either as a duplication of desktop or as a continuation either left, right, above or below of desktop, only thing in your list it doesn't do is dual dvi.
Not sure but i think my 4200 does this aswell, i can extend desktop on tv out just not tried it on a second monitor.
Cheers

Cheers Everyone.
Chris,
Parhelia is OK, but we had them at work for a while, and wasn't the fastest thing even at the time.
All,
I'm looking at the Sapphire Ultimate RADEON 9700 Atlantis Pro which seems to meet all my requirements apart from dual digital DVI. I'll worry about that if it happens.
Anybody got one and have you had an problems without the fan ?
I can give it plenty of space as I only need to use two of the six PCI slots I have so it shouldn't be a problem.
Just got to find a cheap place to get it....
Cheers

Damn, thanks steve. It was tight enough getting the firewire (usb?) cable underneath the GeForce3, never mind a bleedin' great heatsink.
Oh well, my quest for the silent PC continues.

Thanks Ian, having looked on the ATi site, the 9700 seems to fit the bill.
However, I've been unable to find any modern cards that will do all the following:
Drive two analogue monitors
Drive one analogue and one digital monitor
Drive two digital monitors
Cheers

Ah, I see it renders the adjacent PCI card redundant due to the size of the heatsink.
Being that I want one for my XPC Shuttle, that may be a problem! Will have a look round for a good price on one. Not interested in the free games etc. Wonder if they do an OEM pack.
