I’ve got a system of around 50 users running off SBS2000 and they are obviously coming up to the limit.
They’ve bought a new server which is loaded up with Win2k etc. and they have the correct number of licenses – can I just run DCpromo on this, make it a global catalogue and then remove the original SBS server?
What about the infrastructure master?
Any tips appreciated!
Cheers,
Phil

hmm I think the safest way is to build the server on the network (making sure is the BDC) then once up and running... (make sure the box is sycronysed) you can test it by unpluging the PDC. The BDC will take over. If this works the plug the original PDC back in and once the network has stabalised then promote the BDC to PDC.
all how I would do it
method 2=turn PDC 1 off turn PDC 2 on and pray

That's more NT4 really, you don't have PDC's and BDC's as such on a Win2k netwrok.
All the domain controllers on Win2k are DC's and you have GC's, IM's etc. as well.
Cheers,
Phil
