Question

'ello all,

Looking for an app (preferably shareware/freeware) that will watermark images - ideally in a bulk fashion i.e. select a directory, a water mark and all the images in the directory have the water mark applied to them. Anything like this available?

Personally I'd use ImageMagick or Imager with Perl, don't know of anything already out there.

I momentarily stopped being lazy, result being that I found plenty, have a look at http://download.com.com/3120-20-0.ht...age&tg=dl-2001

Now the challenge is to sort through them for a good one.

Steven, are either available for a MS box not running perl?

This is what you need:

CopyRightLeft (freeware) from

www.lunerouge.org/gnu/crl_e.htm

Enjoy...

Thanks, does text additions quickly and easily. Any suggestions for gfx additions?

One "problem" I've noticed in batch mode with the various programs I've tried is that if the text colour is the same as the background colour it washes out. Are there any programs intelligent enough to choose a contrasting colour based on the background colour in the chosen area?

I've just found, and had a go with:

http://www.reasoft.com/products/reawatermark/

But it's shareware and and only a 15 day demo download

...the usability is pretty poor on first impressions
...I can't actually see how to 'fix' the watermark onto all the images in the selected folder, without doing a File|Exit and saying yes to the prompt :rolleyes

Another alternative is Photoshop 7 and either Batch Actions or Scripting, but you have to be a real PS7 geek to be able to do it in less than 2 days (...and it's ~£450 for a copy)

I don't know how you would auto-contrast the watermark - maybe there's something in the PS7 object model that you could get to with scripting, but that's deffo Ph.D level

MartinM, had the same problem. Unidream Photo Watermark seems to be basically identical. K-Lab Watermark also seems to be pretty good, unregistered version has some limitations though.

Both would seem to work on Windows (I had to look, don't use Windows for dev personally), with ActiveState Perl.

That is to say, no they wont work without Perl, although ImageMagick doesn't ned a Perl API to work, but you'll need to wrap it in something to automate it.
