Any help much appreciated . . .
The card is an Actiontec 802.11a PC PCI card. When ever I put it in my free PCI slot the machine will not boot giving 3 beeps on the POST and displaying nothing on the screen. Remove the card and it all boots ok. I have tried the card in all the PCI slots having removed other cards and it still doesn't boot. Does this sound like a fault with the card (which has run perfectly in 2 other machines) or a problem with my BIOS?

Have you made sure that the IRQ assignment in the BIOS is set to Auto and that you have manually reset them?
Try reseating the video card as well.
Try disabling in the BIOS any ports that are not used (Com ports etc.) to free up more IRQs.
Roy.

I have checked the BIOS and all it set to auto (not sure what you mean by resetting them?) I've tried reseating the vid card but it runs fine provided the wireless card isn''t attached. I will try diabling com ports to see if that helps.
Thanks for the help.

In the BIOS under "PNP/PCI configuration" or similar there should be an option to "reset configuration data" and AFAIK this is to reset the IRQ assignments, particularly if you have a problem like yours with conflicts.
Sometimes just moving the PCI card will do the trick and sometimes you have to reset as above, ooh, and a lot of PCI cards do not like the slot next to the AGP slot.
Good luck
Roy.

What video card do you have and what wattage rating is your PSU?
Also what motherboard is it?
Could be that it hasn't got enought juice?
Have you any other cards that you could pull out with the wireless card in like a sound card or something?
