???

XP is £350+ and I cannae afford that since I've got 'works' although that's not up to the job I want it to do.

I've got a *ahem* copy of Office95 but need later versions as it cannot open 1/2 the docs I may get sent.

Ideally I'd like to buy a proper copy of Office2000 and assume it'll be a lot cheaper than Office XP (I've got windows XP BTW).

If you are a teacher or student in full time education, (or partner /kids) you can get a copy of office XP at PC world for around £100. They dont ask to see proof or anything and no need to send off for the software from MS either.

Do post-grad courses count? I could use my amumni card
I'd happily pay £100.

Tried to install my dads copy of Office XP but it needs to be 'activated' online or by phone so I uninstalled (darn thing removed word which was legit but was preloaded so no disks )
