Question

We use Sage here, but they would like to export the tables to create a sales target type application. We have an Access/SQL developer who will design the frontend, but he has no Sage experience!

I appreciate that you can export the data can be exported, but is there a way to automate an introgration of the Sage database, using say Access or SQL?

Are there any helpful links or books for this type of thing?

You can access the Sage tables on a read-only basis using ODBC links from Access. Is it Line 50?

If you have the Sage ODBC installed on your PC (usually done when you install Line 50), you choose to link to them from inside your Access DB (New Table > Link > ODBC in file type box)

If you want two way read/write functionality, you need a copy of the Sage Data Object (SDO). Then you can really screw up your Sage tables in style

I think we are setup as Sage reseller to get access to the SDO as we use it some for some Access/Sage stuff for our customers.
