Unhappy

I've built a test server with NT4 SP6a, IIS 4.0 (from the NT4 Options Pack), Exchange Admin and OWA 5.5 SP4

I've published the OWA website using IIS, but when it attempts to connect to http://testserver/exchange/logon.asp it returns a 404 HTTP error.

The Exchange server is running on another box, but I can connect using RPC so the connectivity is working.

Any ideas on the IIS/OWA integration?

Ozzy......I may be totally off track here, but to me the machine
you are trying to connect from..cannot resolve the ip address of the exchange servername . Try adding an entry in the hosts file,
on the pc you are trying to connect from; for the exchange
server & ip address.
Can you ping the exchange servername from the pc you are trying to connect from ??

Talking

Right you bunch of muppets

There's already a hosts file with the Exchange server added. It's resolving the name quite happily thank you very much.

I need to @rse around with OWA 5.5 coz that's what our company uses (for now)

I've upgraded the box to Windows 2000 & IIS 5.0.

I think it's the way I publishing the OWA website, but I can't be sure. Any ideas?

Can I install a newer OWA and talk to an existing 5.5 server?

Right, now I'm getting somewhere. I delete the published website and added it back in using a different name (I was using exchange). I think this might have conflict with the default URL path of /exchange/logon.asp.

Now I'm getting a 500 - Internal Server error and not the 404. At least it's progress.

Try using the format http://internal IP address of Exch box (I take it it is a fixed ip )/exchange

See where that gets you - it should bring up OWA by default on 2000

ie

http://192.168.0.1/exchange

You don't/shouldn't need the /logon.asp bit

Puff,

Why do you need the Exchange part in the url? Is that a seperate webpage?

I've published the OWA and set it as the default website in IIS. That uses default.html, which in turn calls the logon.asp file.

When I use http://192.168.10.106 it prompts for a login, then gives a 500 error.

When I use http://192.168.10.106/exchange it prompts for a login, then gives a 403 Forbidden error.

I've checked that all IP is granted to the site and that it will use basic authentication using clear text (just for testing, of course)

Does the username you are logging on as have rights to logon locally to the IIS box?

Also are you in the domain or is it standalone? Probably a silly question!

Does the logon request

Username
Password
Domain

If so, all need to be completed IIRC as it is your mailbox authentication that allows you access or not

& finally (Now that its 2000) have you granted dial-in access to the user you are logging in as? Domain Users area or if it were still 5.5 that is done in Exch Manager, mailbox, somewhere but is set to yes by default

I'm trying the Domain administrator account and my own (I'm a domain admin too).

If I run IE from the server itself, then I'm prompted for username, password & domain. If I try it from my XP workstation, I'm just prompted for username/password. I've tried the domain\username syntax to see if it made any difference.

It's just a Member Server in our main NT domain.

The Groups Everyone and Domain Admins have the 'Log on Locally' right. I've also added myself and the administrator user with this explicit right too.
