veritas + dmp load balancing
#1
Hi,
Just following on from Druddle's post about powerpath. I've been looking at some of my machines, and with volume manager 3.1.1 we do load balance over the DMP connections to each disk.
This is because the array we are using (EMC symmetrix) supports (I think) active / active connections.
how does volume manager define wether an array is active / active or active / passive?

Found it...
Multipathing policy used by DMP depends on the characteristics of the disk array. Some
disk arrays permit more than one path to be concurrently used for I/O and are
categorized as Active/Active. Certain others permit only one path to be used for I/O at a
time and are categorized as Active/Passive. For Active/Passive disk arrays the alternate
path(s) is used in the event of a path failure.
