Question

I recently got hold of an Acer 24x10x40 cd/rw but with no software...
am running W2K pro, have tried to use it with adaptec software from SA's pooter and also with Nero from a friends but they both come up with the same error message when I try to burn... unsupported drive????
all the drivers are installed and it is recognised on the device manager...
is there a way to get around this so it works on either software pack.

All I can suggest is getting hold of NERO (At least version 5.5.9.9) and try that.

I had a real problem with a cd-rw that came with a machine for my wifes work. It came with XP installed and the cd-rw worked fine using XP's own writing software. I rebuilt with win2k and the cd-rw wouldn't work with my trusty Nero. I got an updated version (5.5.9.9) and it was happy and detected the cd-rw fine.

So, get a newer version. The newer the version, the better it will be at detecting the hardware.
