Question

I've tried SVCD, but I'm not happy with the quality and want to try DVDs for my DV camcorder masterpieces.

Has anyone done this? I've got a program to encode AVIs into MPG2 that Premier creates after authoring, but I need something that can then create chapters, menus etc. I will need something that will also produce an ISO image (or equivalent) to burn onto DVD. Any recommendations? I've already read the VCDHelp site, but wanted to hear of any advice you have.

Try this, I've just downloaded it 10 minutes ago and it looks pretty good for creating VCDs with chapters etc

Possibly the 2 best applications around for authoring DVDs are

Sonic Scenarist and Spruce DVD Maestro

Think Sonic was 15k and DVD Maestro around 36k

I have tried them both and found Sonic Scenarist amazing once you've stopped shi**ing yourself looking at the interface. (looks scary)

DVD Maestro is a little more user friendly and also an excellent application

Try looking here for some info on DVD in general and authoring tips

Cheers

555guy,

That's what I've been using to create my SVCDs. Problem is that it dows not produce files for DVDs.

Also, I've been playing with the encoder for MPG2 (a program called TMPGEnc that I also found on VCDHelp) but it seems to have problems reading the output AVIs from Premier...

Thanks for the info everyone..

Look here and click on Guides.

Click on Document Overview and you will see stacks of guides from Audio Conversion to DVD Authoring.

If you can spare the time to read some of these guides then you'll understand a lot and should find the process fairly straightforward.

I tend to sit and read them here at work when it's quiet

Cheers

Paul
