Unhappy

Had BT broadband for 3 months - working fine...
Yesterday booted up the computer as normal --> but the BT voyager modem wasn't recognized by the computer (ie ?USB device).
Re-installed the drivers again ---> but everytime the computer is switched on it recognizes the modem as new hardware found and wants to load the drivers again...
I can't fathom it at all - I've unloaded everything including the firewall, other USB devices etc.. but no effect..
Anyone help ??

Cheers,

Gastro

PS Installation release is v1.3 + BT technical help can't seem to sort it either ??!

delete all drivers related to the adsl modem from device manager and networks (in control panel) and then remove the modem , then reboot PC. once PC fully loaded the OS, stick the modem in. it "should" detect the modem and ask for the drivers.

have a look at http://www.btofaq.net/ for extra info on BTO

Suba,

Done all that - but still no joy...
Something curious is happening on installation - the program requests to restart the computer before installation can proceed (ie it never gets to the copyright acceptance page) - so in effect it never gets to installing anything because on reboot it does exactly the same thing !

Any ideas ?

have you got another PC you can try the install on? or if you got a spare HDD, install a brand new OS on it and then install the adsl s/w again.

all i can think of is maybe some corruption on some files, etc. unless someone else can pin point the problem.

p/s how are you getting online now?
pp/s i dont have adsl! me on dialup only!

At work.... hence this frantic cry for help !
I've considered that - and will probably install Win2000 on the other HDD to see what happens.

Cheers,

Mmmm - thought that being cut off was a posssibility - but BT said no - and anyhow it seems like an install problem I'm faced with - the computer isnt even recognizing an ADSL modem !

Hello

If you haven't already done so, repeat the question on bbs.adslguide.org.uk .

As i recall you are supposed to install the drivers before the device.

Have you tried this ?

Yep - I've tried installing it before connection etc.. it does the same
The hardware works - hence my connection now via my laptop !
Hospital IT - who are they ? ... anyway starting a new job tommorrow LOL !
It must be a software conflict of some description since the install disk went through no probs on the laptop..
Time for a 'format c:' moment I think !
