I think you'll find that Macs don't get targetted with viruses etc in the same way as Windows-based PCs. Nevertheless if you're using Office for Mac you'll probably need to check incoming emails etc so I have Norton Antivirus on my iMac and connection to NTL broadband is via an Internet Router that has built-in NAT capabilities (firewall on the cheap really).

HTH!

Mossman. You shouldn't need to run both.

Its true there are less Mac viruses but would you take the risk. I run Norton Antivirus . With regards to a firewall I personally would not connect a computer to the internet without one. After spending lots of time with the Symantec guys its scarey whats out there. I was given my firewall software by Symantec and you would not beleive the about of hacks you get. Some sites such as ebay and amazon seem to attract lots of unwanted attention.

I'm not at work this week so call one of my colleagues at MacWarehouse on 08705 209555 as I think you can buy the two together cheaper and with another bit of software chucked in.

When I had my PC connected direct to NTL Broadband, Norton Internet Security detected intrusion attempts approx. 2/3 times a week. I've had my internet router for about 6 months now and in that time not a single intrusion attempt has got through to the PC.

As the router also lets me share my broadband connection I reckon it's better value (at about £70) than a software firewall solution.

And I have to disable NIS everytime I want to see images in posts on Scoobynet anyway

Still recommend some form of anti-virus software though...

You need to enable the "Referrer ID" for the Turbosport web site, so that it knows you are viewing images from ScoobyNet. Within NPF, go into something like Advanced Options on the Web tab and permit Referrer under Browsing Privacy.
