I used to have a CBM VIC20 with shed loads of game, but there's one I remember that me and my sister played for hours. It actually came on a cartridge and was a text-based adventure type game where you had to type "walk north" and it'd reply "you are in a field, there is a haystack" and so on.
Anyone know it's name and where I can download a PC version or emulator ROM?

hmm, that name doesn't ring a bell. The only part i remember well is bit where you're near a lava flow and you have to find a flame suit (sic) to go into it and find something.

God I remember those things.
Now I am showing my age
Try having a look at www.classicgaming.com/museum/vic20
There is a emulator you can download and links to sites where you can download software from.
Also have a look at www.funet.fi/pub/cbm/vic20/Cartzilla.html
this site Reviews all the VIC-20 Cartridge Software.
You might find it in there!
Happy Hunting.
Cheers,
Rob

N-Rev,
I remember that too !!!!
Still got it but I think it is the loft at my folks house, along with a still working VIC20. Can't remember the name of it though either. Can remember Pac-Man, Gorf but not this one.
If you don't find it soon I'll get my Dad to go up into the loft to find it.
Cheers
Ian

Totally deathed Gorf, Blitz and Arcadia though.
Even wrote a couple of games myself (aged 8), thanks to 'Introduction to BASIC PT1 & PT2'.

THe hobbit was a tape based adventure so it wasn't on cartridge.
The majority of the cartridge games (from memory) where commodore licensed titles.....
wasn't 'zork' or one of its many incarnations was it?

Voodoo Castle and Pirates Cove rings a bell and I've called my Dad and he agrees. Says he would go up the loft and dig them out, but can't be arsed at the moment. Fair enough

OK, I found Amok!, Frogger, Snake Byte and Sargon II Chess, still need to locate Cosmiads, Scram 20, Blag and Adventureland. Woohoo, what better way to get over a hangover than by paying old games

Blitz
Blag was a game where they chucked money bags and you had to catch them in the back of a van, IIRC.
I'm going to visit my dad sometime this week and find out if he still has the VIC in the loft

Paul,
Depends if you have the box and any games, vary from about £20-£40, I was about 13 when I had mine, if only we all knew back then how much they were worth!
If any of you have got a ZX80 or a jupiter ace they are rarer than rocking horse $hit, Ive seen a zx80 sell for £600!!!!
retro rocks!!!!
