File Transfer Speeds

If I'm transferring a single 650Mb file from a laptop, to a PC across a 100Mb network, via a 3Com switched hub - using FTP - what kind of transer rate would you expect to see ?

Dunno m8, create a batch file to run it overnight, and create
an entry in scheduled tasks to run the batch file whatever time u like. It will tell u in a report when u look in the morning.

Assuming nothing elese on the hub using up the bandwidth - you should get about 1MB/s if the disks at each end can keep up (modern ones should have no problem)
