Looking for a suitable product that would work on the above. Ideally would just install on the server rather than having to go around all the machines, and secondly must autoupdate regularly.

My thumbs up is to go with Network Associates TVD - Total Virus Defence.

Do the individual PCs have 'Net / E-mail? If so, them IMHO you need PC side protection, not just server side.

4th'd but I'm biased.

2 year licence of Active VirusScan Small Business Multinode [SVS] 10 user pack. List price with 1 years connect Support which includes software and dat updates is..... £425.95 try for a discount from a reseller.

Includes
Desktops: VirusScan, VirusScan Thin Client, VirusScan Command Line for DOS & Unix. Servers: NetShield NT/2000 & NetWare.
Management: ePolicy Orchestrator Small Business Edition

I'm working on our licencing at the moment hence all the detail, cheers for the practice.

We had one of your Channel Account Managers over the coals in our office for that this week Jack

2 year license but 1 year of updates?

Second years Connect Support £93.00

It's confusing I know and I'm currently working on educating all and sundry... after I've educated myself.

I've had a quote for £12.50 per license for NAI AVD which autoupdates. I gather Sophos and TVD do not autoupdate - this facility is crucial to this network.

TVD contains the same desktop and server components as AVD, main difference is the inclusion of ePO for central management and reporting. For instance with ePO you can make changes to how and where the updates work and then get reports back to let you know its working.

Fig, does the Sophos client software - Sweep? - Autoupdate or do you need to run a program from a login script? It's been a while since I've taken a look. I know Enterprise Manager downloads the updates from Sophos but didn't think it could trigger an update.
