Trying to install a network at home, please help!
#1
I am trying to set up a network at home and would like to know what boxes I need to complete my setup.
Current Equipment list:
1x desk top PC on XP
1x Laptop on XP
1x old 12 port hp hub
1x printer
1x scanner
1x modem
2x external printer network cards
Ideally I would like the Laptop connection to be wireless, so I can surf the net from anywhere in the house.
Many thanks for your help.
PS endless ammounts of CAT5e and RJ45 ends plus crimp tool!

If you only have 2 PC's you can just get two wireless cards, a PCMIA or USB one for your laptop and a USB or PCI one for your desktop.
I've done the same and set a peer to peer network, all the peripherals are plugged into the desktop including internet connection.
The laptop can access everything over the network - no cables, no fuss.
I got two wireless cards reduced to £50 in PCW.
