Have you set your ADSL up for maximum speed.....have a look here to change your MTU settings

TCP window size is likely to show more noticable improvements for large downloads ....

been meaning to try it since then, but havn't got round to it...
Greg, yeah I wonder if it works....??

geek_mode_on/ mind you I have a 2 meg pipe coming in so it's pretty quick anyway

Matching your Routers/PC's MTU to the MTU of the ADSL circuit will improve performance as it will reduce fragmented packets....

Let's be honest, though, in 99% of cases, the biggest bottleneck is likely to be the server you're pulling the stuff down from....
