Hi all,

I have Pinnacle Studio V7 plus which is a great tool for editing your DV camcorder footage. Basically I upload the footage from my DV camcorder in 20 min batches (so as not to reach 4GB limit), Edit the footage and write straight back onto mini DV tape. The results are good with no loss of quality. I want to purchase a DVD writer so I can burn the edited footage straight onto a DVDR however I am told that I also need to upgrade my pinnace studio version to do this - costing another 80 quid!

Anyone got any cheaper alternatives as to how I can write to a DVDR without having to upgrade the software. Can I convert .AVI to a .VOB somehow? Your Thoughts plz.....

Cheers

tmpgenc will write your files to dvd mpeg2 format quickly

http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html

then use ulead dvd workshop to author disks (you can use the latter to do everything from capture through to final disk but if you are used to your existing software you just need the dvd creation stage.

www.ulead.com

you can download free demos of both to trial first
