Hi all, having some probs.

have a couple of servers that use ssh to communicate. the odd thing is that when using the ssh GUI drag and drop type program everything is cool. However, trying to do the same thing, say moving 1 file from 1 server to the other using a command line batch job it doesnt work? no error messages either. the worst bit being, it used to work! and no one can figure out whats changed.

any ideas??

Andy

Which version and OS? Set a verbose flag, perhaps -v, and see what's going on when running it manually from the command line.

presume you have set up the authorised keys / known hosts and started the ssh-agent daemon with the user that runs the transfer ?

Some reading materials .....

First suggestion would be check the destination you are copying to!

Typing scp /etc/resolv.conf user@serverb: can on some versions cause the file to be copied to a file called user@serverb: on the local server, so make sure you put the full path of where you want it copied to.
Try the -v flag to set verbose output, at least then you can see what is happening.
