Virus on PC had to delete HDD still problems

Only thing you could have is a boot sector virus, if you want to make sure this is gone start up with a boot disk and run fdisk /mbr this will overwrite the existing boot sector with a clean one. I doubt it's a virus but you've nothing to lose now.

got friends PC in work today to have a look at riddled with virus, no anti-virus on at all so to cut a long story short..... ended up doing a fdisk and re-setting up
putting ME on now tried a couple of times installs fine until its on final screen and I keep getting the error
"explorer has caused a fault in user32.dll" thi smessage keeps on reporting in a loop.
Has the virus done something
advice please
