Does anyone use XP with the HP external CD writer 7200e ??
XP sees it as a CD writer, I have the XP drivers from the HP site, and the latest ASPI drivers.

But when I use CDRwin it says 'No CDROM recording devices were found on your system...."

Can anyone offer any help ??

Cheers

Or also try using the Aspi drivers that come with CDRWin.

Question

hmm, yep, tried the old version of cdrwin that I was using with 98 & the writer.. this doesn't work, nor does the latest version I just downloaded..

However the Blindwrite suite does acknowledge the drive.. looks like I'll be using that with XP in the future...

Cheers

I gave up using my new LiteOn drive with CDRWin and XP too

Seemed to recognisne the drive, but wouldn't burn correctly

Never mind, plenty of products around that have progressed better than CDRWin has over the years

I had the HP7200 internal drive.
When i changed from Win95 to Win98, it would only work after I updated the Flash Bios in the CD drive. Found the bios on the internet somewhere (as it is a Philips CDD3600 drive actually).
Try http://www.mimicmedia.com/Mimic/Mimictec.htm (just found on Google).

Having had this much problems in Win98, i did not try it in XP. Bought me a new (faster!) one instead.

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/frcaspi.cfm.

Have you treid the Force ASPI drivers?
They usually work if the Adaptec ones don't.

The drive is quite old isn't it ? I've got an external HP7510e drive that had the same sort of problems. Try the most recent version of CDRwin or if not, try to get an older version as they may have removed support for the drive (unlikely).
