just changed from a 24x to a 48x and its started crashing / hanging at 3% and had to manualyy reset, never done it before with the 24x, anyone had this. Just messed about with setings (never had to do with 24x) seems ok at the mo but not burning all the time so time will tell. Bought from PCWORLD recently.
Any info appreciated

try a different application
My liteon hung using the nero burning software
But was ok using the app CloneCD, which u can dl in 10 mins from kazaa

I'm using one of those myself in my new PC. I've had no problems so far running XP Pro and Nero 5.5.9.14. Did have some burning issues with cheap (although rated for 48x) CD-R's. Has been burning flawlessly with branded media.

700Mb CD in a few minutes - great stuff

i unchecked the 'cache track to hard disc before burning' and seemed ok, maybe a one off tho
