Can anyone tell me if it's possible to use one of the many filters on Photoshop, in conjunction with the airbrush (or another tool) ?

What I want, for example. is to use the glowing edges filter to pick out highlights on the image, but with the gradient edge you find with an airbrush,

sorry if this is a bit vague, but I'm hittinh a steep bit of the learning curve

1. Copy the whole image onto a new layer.

2. You will have two copys of the image now.

3. Apply the filter to the whole of the copy.

Now I am not sure which will work best but try this.

4. Put the filter altered image underneath the original

5. Use the eraser tool (which you can customise and has the same effect as an airbrush) to erase parts of the image so that the filtered one shows through from underneath

6. Or if this does not work try putting the filtered image on top of the original and erase all the bits of the filtered image you dont want.

Hopes this help

You can always select the area you want to edit, feather the selection (so that some pixels are more selected than others), then apply the filter.

I only have Photoshop 5.0LE - maybe the full version is more flexible?
