At home running McAfee VirusScan 5.21.1000 with scan engine 4.1.60 on Win2K Sp 2. Last night installed .Net enterprise architect (as you do). That installed heaven knows what quantity of other bits and pieces.

Now when McAfee starts (either at boot or manually) I get the following error...

and the web-scanning fails to start.

Anyone got any ideas ?

Have you checked for updates?

On one of my machines I'm running V. 6.02.3000 of the Retail product on Windows XP, just scanning inbound and outbound files.

Do that then give me a shout, I'm about six years out of support but still don't mind helping.

Ta Jack

5.21 is the latest version of the 5.x product. A bit of googling suggests its related to IE6 (which .Net installed). but gives no firm answers. On-line support @ mcafee.com doesn't offer too much help

going to re-install virusscan and see if that makes a difference otherwise as its quite old now I may move to VirusScan TC 6.0 which is available through work (corporate licence).

I may even splash the cash on 7.0. as you pointed out its now available.
