Just got a new digital camera and I'm a complete novice. I have never used photoshop before so would anybody be kind enough to go step by step and tell me how to resize the pictures taken on my camera at high quality down to below the 200K required by the uploader. I know its probably easy but can someone tell me !
Thanks in advance !

I don't have photoshop installed on this PC, but it's usually something like image > resize, or resample.
A good size for digicam pics is 640x480. As a .jpg they should be around 50 - 100k.

There is also a quality setting when saving as a jpeg. If you do 'save as' even though it's already a jpeg, I think it then gives you the option to set the quality. Obviously the higher quality, the bigger the file size. You should be able to find a happy medium when you have resized it (I normally resize to 640x480 for posting) and about 6 or 7 on the quality scale.

Image > Image Size... from the menu
..or right mouse button on the title bar of the window containing the picture and select Image Size...
However, that just allows you to change the number of pixels in the image. Photoshop then allows you to set a 'quality' when saving. You have to play with it to get best tradeoff of quality vs size. For web pictures, 6 to 8 is entirely adequate.
Not wishing to be a party pooper, Photoshop (if that's what you've really got) is a very sophisticated package, that doesn't have usability as it best feature. If you need to ask how to resize an image, I'd look at PaintShop Pro as a better starting point.

If you have office you can use MS Photoeditor which is in office tools. You can resize in inches, cm, or pixels from the image menu. Dead easy, Photoshop is much too serious for normal people, and a lot slower.
