Have a Compaq Prosignia which crackles away to iself when I play any audio, mp3, avi etc.

Does it through headphones as well so it can't be the speakers.

Any suggestions?

If the latest driver doesn't work, bring it with you on Sunday and I'll have a look at it. It might be the audio codec, or audio amp,
or maybe something simple like a blown capacitor.
