Hi,

Anyone know where I can get hold of a motherboard that takes a slot 1 processor and uses Rambus memory? preferably dual cpu too.

I take it you can't buy things like this new anymore?!!?

I have a Dell Precision workstation which has a knackered motherboard which is proprietary and I'd rather just shove a new one in rather than pay dell lots of money for one.

Cheers
Rob

Slot 1 and RAMBUS?

That's a P3 CPU then. Didn't think RAMBUS had ever been paired up with a P3?

Tall order, as the current dual P3 boards are all Socket 370.

Is the Dell case proper ATX as well?

It was paired up when Intel released the i820 chipset to my knowledge. Aopen, Asus, Gigabyte, Iwill, Supermicro and Transcend were amongst some of the early adopters mating slot 1 to RIMMS.

Cheers,

Nick

Yep its a Slot 1 dual CPU workstation.

Not too sure what to do for the best.
Looks like i'll either have to trash either 1 or both of the cpu's and/or the memory... *sigh*

Cheers

You may find that a Dell power supply is not suitable for a standard ATX motherboard. The big brands like to keep you from using anyone else's bits and pieces.

You could try for an Asus P3c-d Motherboard. This was one of the best of it's class I think.

That should be enough to get you started.
