Someone has changed a password on a PC at work and I cannot get in to it! I really don't want to have to do a reformat.

Is there any programs that would help?

Do you only have access to the machine from 1 account (Local Administrator)? If you have another account that can gain access (Domain Administrator) then log in with that account and then change the password back again.

If you do only have access from 1 user account then you will have to download (and possibly pay) for a password recovery (cough hacking cough) tool As suggest lost password is a good site.

Restore the SAM from a machine with a know admin password....but that's getting a bit drastic coz you'll loose all your other local accounts as well.

Dave,

I have used this boot disk on more than one occasion to change the Administrator account password.

Offline NT Password & Registry Editor, Bootdisk

I take no responsiblity if it all goes wrong

Why was the password changed?

Why can't you just ask sysadmin to reset the password for you?

If you are entitled to use that machine then they should change the password for you, or tell you what it is.
