dabs cheapest was £500 , is anyone selling a little Drive?
its only to install SuSe Linux, as it wont work with the raid Controller

Dabs had a 5Gb HD for £500 ? Yikes.
I'd go looking for a second hand machines somewhere, and pull out the drives form that. Most towns have these places, usually called something like MicroSpares or something similar

I have a couple of 850Mb drives you can have. You learn far more from discovering what you "dont" need to install to get a working system. Most Linux distros seem more bloated than MS these days.

btw - I've followed my own advice and still have more questions than answers
Did get a server to stream a webcam picture last night in about an hour and half including rebuilding my venerable old P100 from scratch. I love the amount of free software and flexibilty of linux - I just wish everything didnt have to depend on very obscure text files
