I have a 1TB LUN that I want to present to VxVM and mirror. Does anyone know if VxVM will handle this LUN and also what the largest LUN that VxVM can handle is ? I have searched the web and Veritas pages for ages and cant find anything

Most file systems are limited to 2Tbytes atm so would assume VxVM has the same limit.

Are you going to have only one volume? If so what file system? Would be silly to do this if you ask me!

Thanks orbv. I thought it was either 2 or 4Tb but was not sure.
It is purely for performance testing on a FibreCAT (EMC Clariion)

Hi,
Don't know about solaris, I heard that the logical limit was 2TB for vxfs, and files of up to 1TB.
You start getting into problems with UFS on filesystems that have logging enabled. It uses a buffer of 1m per 1gig of filesystem, up to a maximum of 64gig. So if you are hammering the filesystems you can potentally fill up the logging subsystem!
If you want massive storage, go with QFS ( quality file system) from sun. It supports up to 18.5 exabytes! (18.5 billion gigabytes)
I think that if you present smaller luns to solaris and then use volume mangler to concat them it would perform better..
