To counter the other thread, things I like about working in IT:
1. Surfing the web all day, and getting paid my hourly rate for doing it.
2. Coding is a 'black art', which means that any deadline can always be extended with a vague "we hit some technical difficulties", or "I'm still tweaking the performance".
3. You're allowed to turn up at work scruffy, drink loads of fizzy pop, eat sweets and junk food, and come and go as you please. In fact, you're not just allowed - it's practically compulsory.
4. You get loads of kewl new hardware toys to play with.
5. Contracting rates.
6. Out of hours, your normal work equipment becomes the most powerful gaming machine you'll probably ever have access to.
7. It's impossible for your boss to tell the difference between work and dossing, until he gets within 3ft of you.
8. You can be abusive to (L)users, but in a language they don't even understand - so they think you're helping them.
