Newsgroups,Rar files,what do i do with them??
#1
Started exploring the web a little more and i am experimenting with downloading vids/mpegs/mp3's using the newsgroups of my ISP.
Now i have read a little on the Slyck guides about mpegs being split into smaller text files of about 600kb,posted as a text file and being in hundreds of different parts eg.part 11.rar(13/65)
i download the rar/text file, now what do i do with it??
i have the winrar utility.
Do i need to have every single file or could i just see a few seconds of footage if i download just 2 or 3 rar files??
how do i see/convert these files into the end result eg.mp3 ,vcd, mpeg etc etc???
should i not bother??
Thanks
Duncan

You don't need all the files (depending on which format they extract to) as long as you have the .rar and sequential numbered files starting at .r00 you can extract and watch the first few second. You need to make sure you select the "keep broken files" option in winrar though.
