Anybody had experiance of copying a hard disk under a boot command prompt in XP with NTFS.
New HD arriving and I want to xcopy the whole drive across after disabling vitural memory.
Anybody done this and any pitfalls to avoid.

use ghost or such like to create an image (best using two pc's and xfering image over a LAN)- or just backup your data and re-install everything from scratch - tends to clear out a load of crap this way.

If you were going to re-install, you could always use the files and settings transfer wizrd to keep your documents and default settings for stuff etc. Dump to a file. Format the new drive. Copy the dump file to the root, install xp again and then restore the dump file

And Ghost did 30gb to 80gb, added copied and installed in under 40mins.
V good product incase anybody else wants to try.
