Have you installed anything recently? When I had this problem I think it was related to a Windows Update that I stupidly installed before looking at the possible problems. You could try uninstalling what ever it was (if there was anything). Windows updates all appear in the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
The offer still stands for IE6.0 if you want it. I also have 5.5 SP2 if that’s of any help I could post it tomorrow and you will have it for Saturday

If you run the ie6setup.exe for IE6.0 it will just install over the top of your current version. Cookies, Favourites, history etc.will remain and will not get deleted.
You don't have to start the whole machine again

I had that problem recently, not a clue what caused it but I re-installed IE and it solved the problem. I'd suggest that.
I have IE6.0 if you want a copy.

Billy,
Use Opera! No seriously sounds like a shell problem, if you have had versioning problems with software written in VB then you probably have screwed up explorer.exe or comctrl32, no easy fix for that, can you do normal file explorer operations ok?
Gary

Billy,
no not that simple, ive seen a simple copy of explorer.exe bring win9x/2k to its knees, i would un-install VB first, re-boot which should hopefully unregister any ole automation dlls and then try installing IE, I dont think installing specifically version 6 of IE will fix the problem
cheers

Explorer.exe is not the same as iexplore.exe. The latter is the file that runs on start-up of Internet Explorer.
If you run the set-up (from the CD) of VB you will get the option to remove/ repair or uninstall.
