XP just gave me this error message:

Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

found an MS page with how to fix it but it didn't work, anyone got any better ideas?

probably need to do a repair on XP.

oh dear... that is part of your registry.... reinstall.

found a way to go back to an old registry, which worked but my system was so screwed I am re-installing
