Ex girlfriend wants my PS2 (don't ask!). Figured it may be a good opportunity though as I would get to play the latest and greatest. I haven't used the PS2 hardly at all the last 6 months so I figured it might renew my interest in console games (Halo et al..)

What do you lot think about the new Xbox (apologies if this has been done before - blame it on the lack of a search engine!)

Played an X-Box with Halo for a little while, initially I thought it's OK but nothing special, Halo grew on me and I did enjoy it but I don't think I would give up my PS2 and GTA3/MGS2/GT3 for it!
Not seen Rallisport challenge though....
Keep yours and buy her a second hand one from somewhere if you have to

Oh yeah, and buy the X-Box of course

Got both, hadn't played PS2 for a long time, so went out n bought Medal of Honour for PS2...IMHO it sucks compared to HALO.
I don't have a decent PC, so all I know is the XBOX rocks (HALO and Rallisport)..then again GT3 also rocks - I'm keeping both

If you haven't touched your PS2 for months like you say, its debateable whether you'll touch your XBOX too. XBOX just doesn't have many AAA titles yet, in fact it has one - HALO.

-Keep your money.
-Give your ex a pair of your dirty boxer shorts instead.
-Buy that backbox you've hankered after.

Dazv I really think you have something against Xbox. To say it only has one AAA title is absoulte cr*p. You have as follows Halo, Project Gotham, Dead or Alive 3 and Rallisport challenge. Also Motogp but I'm plugging my own game so I can't really say that I'll leave that up to other people to decide.
What did PS2 have for the fisrt few months...erm SSX. Ok I know you're saying to wait but by the time you've got through those games you'll have another load of AAA titles like Metal Gear, Unreal, Project Ego, Counter strike oh and I forgot the best game ever Dead or Alive extreme vollyball plus all those ports as well.

Get an Xbox you won't regret it I sold my PS2 a long time ago.

Pete, don't really want to get into all this crap again about XBOX, but its all personal preference at the end of the day and no, I don't think any of the titles you mentioned are AAA with the exception of HALO - they're just 'pretty' ports of games that have already been around on other platforms (Gotham=MSR, Dead or Alive, SSX Tricky, MGS, etc, etc...Yawn!)

Getting back to my point - if he can't find anything worth playing on PS2's HUGE library of stuff, then he'll be in the same boat for XBOX! I would say thats pretty logical.

@Chopper, Go get this piece of heaven (Xbox) now!!! So far I have 14 Games (all US-Imports) and I would say at least 50 % are AAA-Titles!! HALO, JSRF, PGR, RSC, AMPED, Moto GP, DoA3, Gun Valkyrie, Morrowind. Yes, they are all Xbox ONLY titles (keeping PC aside) and I and other people give those games at least 85% or higher ratings. Panzer Dragoon and Project EGO will own you in autumn!!

keep ps2 and wait until x-box has a larger selection of games as at mo its a bit limited...and by that time the ps3 will be out and the x-box obsolete

- If you want to find hundreds of Stars in different colors = Get Gamecube
- If you want to get a system that doesn't offer what they said at the beginning = Get PS2
- If you to have a decent system = Get XBOX

Since I don't own a PC at home (only access at work) I can only tell you about the Xbox-Version (no comparison). So far I played about 35 hours and am still getting into it. Don't think that it is another Final Fantasy-Style RPG!! You are completely free in your movements. The Story is VERY deep. If you have a girlfriend, the relationship might be over pretty soon! This is a pretty damn addictive game. The grafics look very nice (especially with the Scart-cable!). I think this is the only Xbox game that gives you the most for your money. Out of 100%, I would give it a 93%! But still, maybe I shouldn't rate this game since it is too early. But if it goes on like what I saw so far, I would say it is a MUST HAVE title. Highly recommended if you like deep RPG's. Check out some sites for tests like: www.ign.com or www.videogames.com. For gamers opinion checkout the www.gamefaqs.com forum. Cheers
