I've got an xbox one and now i've just bought an xbox one s (it was a stupidly cheap deal I couldn't resist).

Now if I copy all my games and data to an external drive and then onto the S will my xbox one still be able to play the games?

Basically can I have my games on both my xbox ones? I'm giving my Son the xbox one and he wants to take it to Uni and so I was hoping he can continue playing my games on it as his profile is already on the xbox one and I will leave my profile on it too but just signed out needing a password to log back in. Will that work?

Also will my Xbox Gold work on both or will it only work on one at a time and he will need to get his own?

Yes, by using the cloud you can use on both consoles, i have a gold on my xbox 360 and xbox one.

 

Thanks but I was talking about 2 xbox ones in use at the same time not a 360. The answer was setting one as the home console which will be the one my Son has as the home console anyone can be logged into to play the games on it.

 

Yes, as you found out, setting one console to a Home console works fine.

 

Also means he can download and play any digital games that you buy.

 

Yep which is normally just the games with gold offerings. I'm still trying to work out if he will be able to use my xbox live subscription whilst i'm using it on the other xbox one as he will have the 'home' console.

 

Cant both be Online at the same time on different consoles with the same console.

 

Thanks thought that might be the case. He can get his own xbox live then. Does it also apply to games as well? I've got the games installed on both xbox ones now but i'm assuming it's not going to let us play multiplayer against each other?

 

I'm fairly certain if he sets his console as the home console and you maintain your profile with gold at home on the "second" console you will both be able to use gold at the same time and play against each other.
