Will Apple ever release a television ?

 

Doubtful but not ludicrous.

I doubt it. The market is saturated. I was in John Lewis yesterday. The picture quality of tv's have improved since I bought my tv 18 months ago. Plus the prices have come down again and again

 

Mentioned years ago in job's autobiography that he had "cracked it" when referring to TV. Everyone assumed that meant an actual TV but in reality I think it is a mix of ATV and licensing re the networks. Who knows

I doubt very much that Apple would ever consider it, one of those "projects" that sits in the labs

 

surely the apple tv box makes much more profit ?

 

There'd be more profit in an Apple TV with a screen. The new Apple TV is more entertaining than the last one but it'll be a good while until people don't want/need a regular TV as well.
