Galaxy s6, rooted device?
After 5 years of owning iphones ive decided to switch to an S6 and im finding the transition a little dificult
Ive downloaded the sky go app but it wont play anything, i just get a message saying its not supported on rooted android devices. So my question is, wtf is a rooted device and can it be changed?
Thanks
Steve

The phone you bought has been hacked to use a different operating system, it's pretty common on Samsung devices as their own version of Android isn't liked.

Which works perfectly fine on my rooted note 4.
Sky HD and Movie HD are different to Sky Go I take it http://help.sky.com/articles/error-m...the-sky-go-app
My banking app works fine, as does everything else, i think. I dont understand how it can be a hacked phone when it was brand new and sealed? Never heard of xda but i will check it out

You could have been sent a developer phone, they might have run out of stock of standard devices so sent you that instead.
There are ways of checking, involved holding power button and up on the volume when booting, or volume down i can't remember.
Anyway like i said xda should help sort it, it's beyond my knowledge.

Rooted on android is similar to jailbroken on ios. Both are hacks to the OS to give extra permissions to the user allowing you to do customisations that were not possible under the standard permissions of the OS.
Like i said you either got a dev phone, or someone had it before, rooted it and changed their mind.
Check in your settings to see if knox has been tripped, rooting will do this.

Rooting your Samsung device generally wont trip KNOX, but installing a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP will.
That's what happened to my NOTE 3, no Knox trip until custom recovery installed.
