I have installed Ghostery as a plugin for chrome.
Significant browser speed improvement .
Amazed at the amount of crap running in back ground that is now blocked.

Using ad blockers is double edged sword; on one hand it prevents annoying adverts and pop-ups from displaying on your browser for the individual, on the other, it stops revenue being generated for websites that allows them to provide you the free content you see on the internet. Also some of the ad blocker publishers actually sell on the data of blocked sites they collect to advertisers too.
