It's Apple Day - Get ready for a game changer.
I haven't replaced the battery in my Sunnto watch which ran out months ago, fingers crossed Apple's offering will be available now.
They've done a brilliant job of keeping the new releases quiet, lots of surprise later today.
Tune in at apple.com or on your Apple TV.

Good to see the Apple Watch, simply because a good friend of mine worked on the software side of it, and for obvious reasons he couldn't say anything about it. Well done Jim!

I wanted a barometer, I've wanted a barometer since the first iPhone so I'll happily upgrade.
I need a new watch, lovely as mine is it's cracking on a bit, it'll be a birthday present.
The live stream was laughable, demand must have been astronomical.

One thing to think about is the Apple Pay system. They showed the steps of pulling out a credit card and using it, then using NFC on a 6 / 6+. But that means pulling out a phone. Ah, but what if you wave your watch at the payment terminal.
The thing is, it may be called Watch but it's more than that, it's customizable in a way a normal watch isn't. I'm waiting for the watch face with a small black bar at the bottom too It's also a fitness tracker thing, which seem to be all the rage these days.
I am also interested in what we can do with it from a development standpoint. A couple of ideas are floating around, and I'm sure more will pop up.

You may be waiting for a while, possibly mid to late 2015 before you get that in the UK. I'll be US first, and possibly Canada second, but likely Canada / UK / Ireland and possibly other European countries at the same time.

Zzzzz to all the usual "copied from Android, was game changing in 2012" comments.
As ever Apple will have taken a few cues from others and mixed in many of their own ideas, but crucially made them into usable tech as opposed to flaky toys.
They will be easy to use and 100% reliable..... that's why they are always a little late to the party... because they wait until a product is actually properly finished before releasing it! Well done once again and I look forward to in all likelihood purchasing my first bit of wearable tech

*cough* Children! If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all *cough*
Tidgy - Out of curiosity, what would you have liked to have seen that would not have left you underwhelmed. Oh I'm not squealing in delight and ecstasy, it was pretty much as the rumours had said (for the phones, wasn't sure on the Watch), which seems to be the case for leaks and such recently, but I don't feel it was underwhelming. I think the big thing for Apple was really that watch, as it's one of the new product lines, not just a new product.

Why?
Not a loaded question or a counter fanboi argument at all ... but just why would you buy an apple watch? I've no idea what they can do because I am totally disinterested, but on the assumption that you can't use it as a phone, I'll also assume you'll have a phone with a reasonably sized screen in your possession for most of the time? So what will you use the watch for? I mean the phone already tells the time.

Short version is that it's not *just* a watch. It's a combination of things, a watch, a fitness device (think fitbit), it's a notification tool, it's a payment device (wave it in front of a contact-less terminal to pay for things), and it's extensible and customizable, both with what comes on it, and with whatever developers can think to add to it (well, kind of, you don't install apps on it per-se, it seems to be based on the new iOS 8 "app extensions" system)

As said im pretty anti apple, but if they came out with something that did bring in something revolutionary i'd give them their due. But over hyping something thast a bit better polished than the competition but extensivley the same just doesn't live up to that hype.

However like all these things it takes time for the true worth to be realised. Smartphones today do things no one had dreamed of 5 years ago, similarly the iPad created a whole new market and I was once a huge sceptic of a tablet's worth, but I have changed my mind completely now and I expect the Apple Watch could well be the same. We will see!

watch is something smart, the phone though sorry to say nothing special about that.
Jack, what's your thoughts on the larger screen as last year you were saying android phones at that time were too big and the current(last) iphone screen was perfect, yet now they have gone bigger and with the 6.5 they have gone away from Steve Jobs ideal?
not seen full specs yet, but does it not have HD screen resolution? bit poor if that is true as that is old tech
