Virgin not deliverying the speed

For over a year i paid for a 60meg connection with virgin, i never got more than 30meg and after having numerous phone calls with them over the course of a year it eventually turned out they had me on a 30meg connection speed. I asked them for a refund of the outstanding balance and they pretty much told me to **** off. Virgin are a waste of time of late.

Paulr it appears to be a superhub I got it spring 2013 when I took out the contract. I have rebooted it to see if the issue went away but it hasn't
Hodgy0_2 I tried it with the default Uk server in London and the speed was about the same so tried a different European server and posted the poor speed.
Not only is it slow it will time out loading Google home page on wifi !
Contract is up soon so might have a look at other options especially as Virgin have tried to include the contract cost twice in the 15 months I have been with them

Is that speed the same throughout the day, or does it vary
When I had poor speed it was ok during the day, but would fall of a cliff at about 5.00pm - this was consistant every day
It was obviously in my case some sort of contention issue

I had the Superhub 1 and was on the 30mb connection and never had an issue with it - would always get the 30mb even at peak times and wireless connections would be excellent on all devices connected to it.
Recently I upgraded our package to the 152mb internet which come with the superhub 2 and since then my speeds have been all over the place from 1mb up to 160mb and wireless devices constantly lose connection

Could be a faulty device I guess.

He said it's going to be some time in October before the issue is rectified as it involves replacing cables etc. so I am getting £10 a month off my bills until it's sorted - not great but **** happens...

I've not looked at the power levels but i've had a VM tech out and he's checked everything and changed connections etc. then after a long while of being here and phone calls to his manager he tells me that there's too much usage in the area which is slowing it down (he did use some technical term).

Those look good, nicely within range. I'd need your modem MAC to have someone look at your connection, but I wouldn't ask for it as it would give me your personal details and I'd strongly suggest you never post your details (including MAC address) online for your own safety.

You don't need his MAC at all, why are you asking for that? What can you possibly do with his MAC code to improve his connection? nothing.
Your bandwidth is determined by your distance from the exchange pure and simple, as for the crow flies no end of "troubleshooting" from these "experts" is going to change it. Another factor is noise levels, between your house and the exchange, any noise levels beyond your control will affect your bandwidth. Now i will provide a real life example, i am with sky and i used their router for a while it gave me 18mbps then i introduced pfsense and now i get 28mbps...........???

he's on cable so that's all utter ****e ..
and it's his MAC address, not a migration code, you know to identify him on the network ..
