Default In car permanent security cameras

I've been wondering for a while about getting an in car dash cam but am also looking to add further security to my garage/house. my question is has anyone managed or seen a permanent in car security system that you could run 24/7.

Obviously a Permanent power source would be required eg car battery or maybe there's a model which I've missed that will give you a days charge.

Any suggestions or ideas appreciated.

I have a cheap £17 camera in my van which is connected to the cigar lighter and is on all the time, the quality isn't gopro but if an accident happened it will record the obvious stuff you need and I don't worry about it getting stolen from the cab.

I don't think it can do number plate recognition but it has quite reasonable video after that.

Thanks for reply but I'm after something that is a permanent fixture that will monitor all day every day weather engine on or off. I believe what jabbroni suggested ticks the box pretty much

This is the one I have and its cheap as, fit and forget. It starts when I turn the ignition on and because it only runs thru the cigar lighter it dies seconds after I switch the ignition off. If I were wanting a camera for racing this would not be it but for bog standard fit and forget video recording I don't think you can beat it?

It lasts about 4 hours when fully charged but from your last post I can't see any camera doing what you want as they need charge time and run time so how can you have a camera that does parking when you want to fit and forget??

The above link for the blackvue camera allows a permanent power source to run from the car battery and it also has a fail safe built in to not allow to much charge to be taken so you don't come to a dead car.

I haven't had an accident happen to any of my parked vehicles in over 30 years, but while driving I have had lots of incidents! Are people constantly crashing into your parked car?

Not really for that purpose more for the scum that live in the world today to keep an eye on her at night but the parking feature would also come in handy as I've sprayed my front a rear bumper a few times due to the fact people think the word bumper means you have to use them to park.
