I like Winnov

And another thing. Don't assume that it'll work. If you are running ADSL and have a NAT address from your SP it probably will not. If either of you are running a firewall, once again, the chances of it working drop significantly. Try a voice call first before buying a camera.

Ta. I'll check it out.

My IP will not be fixed. Why do you think that will be a problem?

I will be using a firewall (everone should). Surely it is a case of setting up a rule for it?

Cheers

To some degree...
If you are running an H323 client (most are H323), then they require a range of ports to be open listening for the incoming request from the remote endpoint. This is not normally a problem if you have control over the firewall.
Check here for the ranges.

The problem with NAT is again one of locating the endpoint. If you are behind a NAT router, how is the remote person going to find your PC to invite you? Now, if *you* are behind NAT *you* can be the instigator, but what happens if they are behind NAT too?

I just use a USB Trust SpaceCam. Only costs about £20.

I use it to speak to mates via MSN Messenger

I also have a Logitech QuickCam. Can definately recommend them for good build quality and technical/driver support My one is the Parallel version because I use it on NT4.

Philips Webcam Pro 3D. can use it as a high-res still snap shot or 60fps video at 640x480.

Does anyone do a webcam that goes better than 640x480. I'm looking for something that does 800x600 or preferably 1024x768, but still with easy USB connection ?

Cheers

Ian
