Firstly, I'm extremely unimpressed with this "service" and I haven't even connected yet!

I've installed the ADSL modem s/w. Then installed the BTOpensh*te s/w. It then says it will reboot. PC reboots and...nothing. Installation help manual says I should get a screen to configure the modem and if it didn't appear, open Explorer and this page will appear again. It didn't, just the BTClosedworld home page (which is utterly useless I might add).

I've already wasted half an evening on this and very shortly I will be putting all this BT paraphenalia back in the box ready to send back to them.

All you need to do is install a driver for the modem, then just add a dial-up networking icon for BTOpenWorld.

You don't need any extra software, I don't think.

Uninstall all the BT stuff - it's awful!

Download the latest Alcatel drivers using your old dial-up connection from http://www.alcatel.com.

Reinstall the modem using these drivers.

et voila!

It should work properly now.

The BT stuff messes around with the registry to disable sharing. It also messed up my PC so that it wouldn't connect.

Cheers for the replies guys, finally managed to get it all to work after uninstalling everything and starting from scratch (twice!).

Apparently the BT server was down as well last night for an hour or so, which didn't help.

I could get used to this speed as well...
