First Time Claying Help!
Hi,
I am claying my car for the first time ever, have read a few threads but im total newbie.
Ive bought a Megs clay kit which comes with lube and wax.
When claying im using very light pressure, and i can feel it going from grippy to smooth. I use long straight stripes with the car. Probably 10 min to do a door.
I dont really know what order to do things.
After the clay im using the included megs wax. I put this in to a normal ish to thick amount, do the whole panel then wipe off. Except wiping this stuff off takes REAL elbox grease! Two hand jobbie! Is this normal?
After the wax im not really too impressed with the finish tbh, it almost looked better just after the clay. Even tho i have rubbed off any clouds of wax.
Am i supposed to polish after this? I only have megs nxt tech polish (about 4 years old). This stuff does a nice job on its own.
So. Any Tips on Claying?
Any tips on waxing?
SHould i polish with megs nxt tech after waxing?
Should i just not wax and go straight to the polish?
Sorry that these are probably common sense questions!
o yeah. The car is 406 light silver.

A tip I was always told!
Use Meg's gold class top coat wax after claying! as the resin will better treat the paint rather the nxt will for the 1st coat or any wax for that matter.
Anyways I hope this helps buddy!

What is your paintwork like? Condition.. swirls /minor scratches etc
Are you not polishing before waxing?
You should apply wax / polish in thin coats...sounds like you could be using too much. Are you using pads or cloths? Best of luck...Bob

Redone the whole car. Seems to be looking better. Its not stunning tho. It is 10 year old badly lookde after paint so i suppose its as good as its going to get without a mop.
How am i supposed to use clay? I put lots of lub on. then i rub it against the surface till it goes from grippy to smooth. sometimes pushing with force, usually just light force.
Ill post a few pics shortly.

Remember clay only cleanses your car so you should feel the difference more than you will see it.
If your paint is a bit dull it might need a machine polish to get it back to it's normal shine.
Try Polished Bliss's polishing a subaru by hand tutorial and tell us how it goes.

Correct order is wash (to remove loose grime), clay (to remove bonded grime), polish (to correct sub-surface defects and maximise gloss) then protect (using either a wax or a sealant, or both). For details of how to clay please see this illustrated guide...

Ta man.
I think my results are alright. would be nice to have it better, buts for the cost of the bits to clean i can make it faster. and i think it needs a machine polish to get any real good colour depth.
Ahh well, it looks good enough. just not stunning.
