Swiss, you dirty bugger !!
It is very unlike me, but due to the weather, the festive period and me being completely lazy, the poor car has suffered and not been washed for over 5 weeks
Well finally today I decided enough was enough and the car needed a clean, even if it was a quick once over. As things would have it, I didnt start until 11 a.m and so had limited time but needs must and so off I went
First off was the engine bay. This was completely filthy (which is okay for your girlfriend but not your enginebay ) and as I had done a mate's a few weeks previous it motivated me to do mine.
This is what I was faced with !!
Using the same techniques that I have detailed in my website
Polished Swiss I tackled the engine with Meguiars Super dregreaser, Total Auto wash, a few select brushes and the Pressure washer. As I dont have a TMIC I didnt need to cover that but the alarm housing, induction cone and alternator were covered as usual.
Aerospace 303 protectant was put on next and after running the engine for 10 mins I wiped down the excess and then went for a drive to seal it.
This is the result
A little bit of personalised bling
Next it was the minging car !! After 5 weeks of rubbish weather, UK roads this is what I was faced with
So I did the initial foam wash which is always fun. Rinsed and the foamed like mad
This is the muck the foam was getting off
Whilst the foam was on, I did all the wheels using Meguiars Bright wheels, the wheelback brush , APC on the arches and some elbow grease. I also went around all the sills, under the bumper, the exhaust and the underside of the splitter with a microfibre washmitt and then rinsed everything off.
Quick break for lunch ( coffee and cigarette ) and then onto the second foam. The reason why I do this is because I find it is a great way to have loads of suds on the car whilst I am using the 2 bucket method and Megs Gold Class shampoo to clean the car. Once done, it was a rinse all over and then dried with Chemical Guys miracle drying towels. These are brilliant
Did all the door shuts with older towels and also cleaned and wiped the boot and around the engine bay/bonnet.
Next up was the interior and whilst I do not have some photos, let me tell you after 5 weeks of muck, kids, football training and assorted garbage it was pretty filthy. Vacuum, Poorboys Natural finish on the plastics and then glass.
Time was against me and the light was fading fast so it was a treatment of Poorboys wheel protectant on the rims, Blackfire long lasting gel on the tyres and a quick coat of Poorboys Blackhole over the bodywork to give it a little zest. This is a stopgap before the better weather when I can bring out the machine polishing.
The final result

Nope. The 1st foam was just to loosen the muck as there was so much of it. Whilst that was on, I did the sills and underside of the car including wheelarches using a single bucket and microfibre washmitt.
The 2nd foam was to create a lot of suds as in the cold weather you find your normal shampoo even in warm water does not foam as well on the car and in sunshine it dries so quick. So with it foamed, I still used the 2 bucket method and my normal car shampoo. No substitute for some hard work mate though the foam does make life easier

You can still do mine when I come down for a weekend Chris
I may doodle something quick of your car as recompensense... perhaps, while Nat and Zoe talk about lipstick and emotions

You durty bugger indeed, that was bad . I thought mine was bad after 3 weeks of not washing it due to the hosepipe frozen solid for ages. It was really starting to bother me that I could'nt get it clean!
Nice finish though

Funnily enough about 2 weeks ago I went over to my mates house and I said I would do his engine bay for him on his scoob. When we got there the hosepipe from end all the way to the wall was frozen solid. Had to get a hairdryer out for the tap and then immerse 30metres of hosepipe in his wife's sink with hot water
It worked, but too cold to really do a brilliant job.
this weekend my hosepipe was not frozen so I didnt have any excuses left

That was a cut down version of the write up for the sakes of easier reading.
If you want the FULL version which details how I cleaned the underside of the car, the full engine detail, the hoovering and interior clean, the glass prep, wheels etc then just shout (but I bet you dont )

Hello squire
That steve chap thinks I am after the PB monthly competition. Only for his own needs though as he is hoping I will use the products to do his scoob
Glad you liked the write up, shame the light was fading as it would have been good to take more pictures of the inside and the paintwork.

...question: why do you have to cover a TMIC???

If you use a PW, have a TMIC and blast the water through the scoop then you run the risk of spending a long weekend sitting with a tooth pick doing every fin on its own. Your missus will leave you, your kids and friends will disown you and your neighbours will avoid you at any opportunity.
You have been warned
