Default Looking after a lambswool wash mitt

What's the best way to look after a lambswool wash mitt, just used my Meguiars mitt which i've had for about a year and the lambswool is coming off it in big chunks, is there a best way to store them between each wash

Thanks in advance
Ian

We wash ours after every use in the machine at 30oC using a liquid detergent, then hang it up in the storeroom to dry naturally - never dry them using artificial heat, as this causes the backing to shrink, and the wool to fall out. That said, most of our mitts only last a few months before they need replacing, and even for home use I wouldn't expect one to last more than 4-6 months.

I always hang mine on the washing line, after steeping it in a bucket.

The lady next door said last month "Where's your other glove Andrew ?"

I tend not to wash it after every use, just give it a damn good rinse (unless the car was in a serious state !)

I wash it after every 2-3 washes on 30 degrees with non-bio liquid detergent. Then leave to dry naturally of a clothes horse or summit.

Ok,

This may seem silly but what is the best liquid detergent to put in the wash to clean my lambwool and 100% cotton towels after they have been used.

My towels come out hard-ish and some of the marks do not come out. I tend to hand wash them first then put them in the washing maching a a quick 30min wash.

Fairy Non Bio - works a treat, very gentle, and doesn't conatin any bleach or conditioners, which aren't good for mitts and microfibres. Be wary of cotton on paint - some interesting SEM images on this link showing the difference in kindness between microfibre and cotton on paint...

Just stick them on a 30 degree cotton wash mate - no need for a quick wash, just go the whole hog. They'll be fine using the Fairy non - bio.

Oddly enough - Halfords do a very reasonably priced real lambswool mitt. The one I have looks as good as it did when I bought it about 5 months ago - thats with washing the car most weekends.
