Default Getting the right products

I'm about to embark on detailing my 2 cars (a 2001 VW Bora in metallic silver and a 2000 Subaru Forester in solid white).

For washing I have Zymol Auto Wash, 2 buckets and some waffle weave

What's best to use for cleaning? Is Meg Quick Detailer and Quick clay enough?

Also, I've bought a Porter Cable with 3 Sonus pads (Orange, Green and Blue plus polishing bonnets for removing residue. Which products are recommended for a newbie? The Bora paintwork is pretty good but the Forester paintwork will need some work, especially one patch where there's been some paint transfer off another car).

I plan to finish them both off using the JEFFS Werkstat Acylic kit.

Finally, the Bora has some light scratching on the drivers side door window. Can I use the PC to sort that? Can I use normal polishing compounds?

Best bet would be the new range of polishes by Menzerna. I would use 106FF on the Bora (applied using a polishing pad), and firstly RD3.02 on the Forester (applied using a light cut pad) followed by 85RD (using a finishing pad). Glass scratches can be improved using RD3.02, but only if they are light; deeper glass defects need a proper glass polishing kit containing cerium oxide, see link below for details...

Menzerna polishes (top row) - Polished Bliss - Car Care Products - Polish

Glass Polishing - Scratch Glass Repair Kit

Meguiars Quick Clay remains my recommended product for general claying duties for those with relatvely little experience; it works well, and is very safe compared to many other clays on the market.
